A double hump camel ride in a Desert, the view of the snow capped peaks with a river flowing & a marshy land. What happens when you combine all of this. You have reached a magical destination of Nubra Valley. It sure is the marvel of nature to have all these elements of nature in one place. And to reach Nubra Valley, one has to cross Khardungla, the highest motor-able road in the world.
When you plan your visit to Leh, Ladakh do not miss the great opportunity to view this magical destination. The drive, the overall experience of stay in Nubra Valley will remain etched in your memory for a long time.
The two villages of Hunder & Sumur offer the most scenic beauty, while if you have interest in the Gompas, then the monastries in Diskit offers you a chance to meet the Lama's and get introduced to their culture & traditions. Turtuk, which is 80 kms further ahead of Nubra is another option, the drive takes you all along the Shayok river and one can witness the Pakistan border. The people in Turtuk are predominantly Muslim.
The Organic Retreat overall ambiance is really one with nature and there is a network of streams within the retreat that you can experience. There are apricot & apple trees all around and a kitchen garden which is the source of your vegetables that are cooked in the meals.
Apart from this, we also organize expedition style camping. The equipment that we use is one of the best in the world from Quechua which the leader in making high quality camping & trekking equipment. Special care is being taken to ensure that your stay is comfortable & all possible facilities are provided. Learn more about the equipment here

Facilities at the camp

Food at best that can be described in the camps in ladakh is average, not too great and not too bad. If you are a foodie, talk to us for our special food services for making your ladakh holiday special.
The camp is operational from May till October.
When you come early in the season in May, the area will not be as green as seen here because of the harsh winter and the spring season is just beginning to have its effect. By June, the area is a lot greener. The days are quite warm while the night temperature drops drastically.
July, August and September, the area is at it greenest. Fresh Apricots, Apples are available starting end July, August.
Only BSNL postpaid mobile service works here and that too is quite erratic. You can however make calls in the office at a nominal rate.
No other service provider Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Tata or Reliance works here.

While most people visit Nubra Valley for a day, we highly recommend a 2 day visit to the area, especially if you like to stay close to Nature. The mornings & the evenings are especially quite beautiful near the stream and the sand dunes and just walking in the Hunder Village is quite a peaceful experience.
