The people in Turtuk are predominantly Muslim.

Facilities at the camp

• Each tent comes with proper bed with quilts & mattress. There is carpet on the tent floor. 
• There is attached toilet bath in all the tents with running hot ( 6 am to 11 AM ) & cold water. The hot water is provided through wood fired geyser. 
• Proper dining serving simple vegetarian meals
• The attached bathroom does not have a washbasin and a mirror. There is a common bathroom area which has mirrors and washbasin. This is one negative aspect of this camp
• Electrical charging points are only available in the office or in the dining area. 
• There is electric lighting in the tents

Food

Food at best that can be described in the camps in ladakh is average, not too great and not too bad. If you are a foodie, talk to us for our special food services for making your ladakh holiday special.

Seasons

The camp is operational from May till October.

When you come early in the season in May, the area will not be as green as seen here because of the harsh winter and the spring season is just beginning to have its effect. By June, the area is a lot greener. The days are quite warm while the night temperature drops drastically. 

July, August and September, the area is at it greenest. Fresh Apricots, Apples are available starting end July, August.  

Communication

Only BSNL postpaid mobile service works here and that too is quite erratic. You can however make calls in the office at a nominal rate.

No other service provider Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Tata or Reliance works here. 

 

Packages 

While most people visit Nubra Valley for a day, we highly recommend a 2 day visit to the area, especially if you like to stay close to Nature. The mornings & the evenings are especially quite beautiful near the stream and the sand dunes and just walking in the Hunder Village is quite a peaceful experience.
