Tungnath(Alt: 3660m) & Chandrashila (Alt: 4130 m)
" First Snow fall received in Chandrashila in Oct 2012, mild one though but remains snowbound from Jan to March every year"
When it snows in the region, there is miles of snow as far as the eye can see. The views will be mesmerizing and location breathtaking. There will be hardly any tourist in the region and you will be very intimate with nature. On top of it, enjoy camping in such pristine location. It will be a holiday to remember. How much snow is there will be only known as we approach the dates of the trek.
Tungnath is the highest of the Panch Kedars, situated at an altitude of 12,000 ft but it is very easy to access.
It is an easy 3.5 km trek from Chopta on a centuries old cheh footia ( 6 feet ) path, a cobble street.
The Chandrashila peak (meaning Moon Rock) is another 1.5 km climb from the Tungnath temple looming above.
The whole area of Chopta lies in the Kedarnath Musk Deer Sanctuary in Chamoli, Uttarakhand
As the temperatures are below zero in winters, the trip will be customized based on the risk taking abilities of the group. You can check the packages are here
